This window is centered on the image of
the parting and crossing of the red sea, as recorded in the book of Exodus. In
Exodus we read: " Tell the Israelites to go forward, and you lift up your
staff and, with your hands outstretched over the sea, split the sea in two that
the Israelites may pass through it on dry land. ... Then Moses stretched out
his hands over the sea. And the Lord swept the sea with a strong east wind
throughout the night and so turned it into dry land. When the water was thus
divided, then the Israelites marched into the midst of the sea on fry land,
with water like a wall to their right and to their left. This was God's last
great act of deliverance out of slavery in Egypt for the Israelites. This and
all the other great miracles of deliverance by God as recorded in Exodus were
performed through his humble servant Moses. It was Moses who continually
admonished The Israelites to never to forget the mighty acts of God in
delivering them from the bondage of slavery in Egypt. This window is a help to
keep that memory alive. Below the central image is THE HOLY NAME of God in
Hebrew - YHWH.
