Description of artistic print

CHRIST THE KING

This Catholic fine art print is centered on Christ the King. Christ the King is a title of Jesus based on several passages of Scripture and used by all Christians. Many denominations, including Catholics, Anglicans, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, and some Lutherans and Methodists, celebrate, in honor of Christ under this title, the Feast of Christ the King on the last Sunday of the liturgical year, before a new year begins with the First Sunday of Advent, the earliest date of which is 27 November. Throughout the New Testament especially in the Book of Revelation Jesus is referred to as King. In Revelation 16: 3-4 The saints joyfully sing the song of the Lamb (Jesus) “Great and wonderful are your works, Lord God almighty, Just and true are your ways O king of the nations. Who will not fear you, Lord, or glorify your name? For you alone are Holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.” As the second person of the trinity who assumed a human nature, Jesus is the Lord – King of all creation both in heaven and on earth.

Directly above Christ the King is an image of God the almighty and eternal Father, who is revealed by the Son. On top of the image of the Father are seven fiery shapes the represents the seven Spirits (angels) that surround the throne of God in the book of Revelation. On the inside border of the Gothic arch are twenty star-like shapes that represent the angels of God. Below the image of God the Son, as Christ the King, is the image of God the Holy Spirit surrounded by twelve flames which represents the new Israel - the Church, which He sanctifies and unifies with divine love and truth and which as St. Paul says is the pillar and foundation of Truth (1 Timothy: 15). To the left of the Holy Spirit is an image of the menorah which is a symbol of the Israel of the old covenant and on the left is an image of the glorious cross of Christ which represent the sacrificial love of the messiah Jesus, who brings forth God's promise to Abraham of blessing and salvation to all nations through the mediation of the Church- the new Israel. The composition of this stained glass print portrays the oneness of the Trinity as well the distinction of Persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
