Description of artistic print

THE CRUCIFIXION

This catholic fine art print is centered on the crucifixion, which is the self-sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for the remission of our sins. In the gospel of John (15:13) Jesus tells us “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down his life for his friends. In as much as we all have sinned and were condemned to eternal death, he layed down his live for us that we may have eternal life. In contemplating the crucifix we contemplate the depths of his self-sacrificial love for each of us, which engenders in us a response of love for him and for all men and women whom he died for. The crucifixion is the central icon of the depths Christian love and is the ultimate example for us as Christians to live in both the ordinary events of our lives (Take up your cross everyday and follow me), as well as in those extraordinary events.

Around the frame of the window are twenty light blue circles that represent the twenty mysteries of the rosary, of which the crucifixion is one. In the top corners of the print are two large letters that contain the Greek letters alpha and omega. Jesus used these letters in describing himself as the beginning and end of all things.
