ADORATION
This Catholic fine art print is centered on the Eucharist and the liturgical worship of adoration of Christ's real sacramental presence - body, blood, soul, and divinity. This ancient practice of Eucharistic adoration of Jesus has increased in the past few years through the pastoral leadership of pope John Paul II, Benedict XVI and others in the church and has born much fruit. One important fruit has been an increase in vocations to the priesthood and the religious life. Other fruits have been a growth of love for Christ for his great gift of himself in the Eucharist, at Mass in communion and his sacramental presence in the tabernacle of all our churches.
This print is based on St. Paul's statement of us being surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. During adoration we are in the presence not only of Christ but also of Mary and the angels and saints who continuously contemplate and worship Christ. In reality we join them in heaven while on earth adoring and contemplating Christ in the Eucharist.
Radiating outward from Christ in the Eucharist is a monstrance making visible the divine light of glory emanating from him. Radiating from the monstrance is twelve tongues of fire representing Christ's divine fire of love. Radiating past these are Mary and the angels. Mary is depicted as a royal blue circle with a Eucharistic heart, which is depicted, by the small white circle within the royal blue circle due north of the Eucharistic Jesus. Mary is the queen of the angels, who are depicted as eleven small light blue circles. Radiating past them are 24 small yellow circles representing the saints. Radiating past them are twelve red diamond shapes each with a golden cross in it. These represent the martyrs. In between each martyr are twelve red/yellow circles each containing a bishop's miter with a red cross on it. These represent the twelve apostles and their successors. The circle on the top has a white miter representing St. Peter and his successors the popes. Directly above each bishop are two yellow circles one representing priest and the other deacons, which with the bishop form the three ordained ministries in the church. In between the priests and deacons are twelve yellow/red stars representing all creation, which gives glory to God and awaits its complete redemption (new heaven and earth) at Christ second coming. In between these stars are twelve clusters of three small red circles. These represent the lay faithful in adoration and contemplation of Christ in the Eucharist. Above them are twelve small light blue circles representing our guardian angels, which always contemplate and worship God, while on earth protecting and assisting us.
The image just beneath the Gothic point is God the Father. The image at the bottom of the print is the Holy Spirit. To the right and left of the Holy Spirit are two circles each containing a five-pointed star that represents the Old Testament and an eight-pointed star that represents the New Testament. Each represents the continuing people of God in which the Holy works at the sanctification of the people.
