TREE OF LIFE
This Catholic fine art print is centered on the tree of life that is mentioned on the book Of Genesis and the book of Revelations and alluded to throughout the old and New Testament. All these references have as their focal point the sacrifice of Jesus on the wooden cross (tree) that gained for us eternal life.
As a symbol of the cross, the tree of life depicted here is most fruitful. The fruit of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross is our redemption, the salvation of every person who accepts it and acts upon its promise of eternal life. The super abundant and verdant scene surrounding the tree are the manifold graces given to us here on earth that we may also produce much fruit in carrying our own crosses, grow in virtue, develop our God given talents for His glory and for our own salvation and those of others. The meandering river flowing among the gently sloping hills is the river of life that flows from Christ and is another symbol of grace that nourishes and quenches our thirst unto eternal life.
Starting from the top of the window is the Holy Spirit in the symbol of a dove. He is a work now purifying us for salvation/sanctification and applying the inexhaustible grace won for us by Jesus on the cross - the tree of life. The red-yellow-orange shapes cascading down from Him represent the fire of His live in His gifts and fruits. The twenty small blue beads represent the twenty mysteries of the rosary, which is a contemplative prayer of the life of Jesus and Mary while on earth and their glory now in heaven. The two circles on either side of the tree of life image each contain eight small red-yellow circles. The eight small circles on the right represent the spiritual works of mercy and those on the left represent the corporal works of mercy. These are the fruits/works we produce under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. He is the one who prompts us to works of charity and sustains us in those works as well our prompting and sustaining us in our spiritual growth in humility, and long suffering in denying ourselves and taking up our cross everyday as Jesus did and expects his friends/followers to do also.
In the lower right of the window is an oval containing the Eucharist/chalice – the body blood, soul and divinity of Christ that nourishes us unto eternal life. In the lower left of the window is an image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
